With Swiss precision: Eric Monnins Albert Riele Swiss Team is still leading after two days

Langenargen (Match Center Germany/Match Race Germany), 2. Juni 2017. Eric Monnins Albert Riele Swiss Sailing Team went on to dominate the 20th Match Race Germany on day two. The experienced crew of the 41 years old matchracing helmsman sailing for his Segel Club Stäfa managed to win all but one of his eight matches. Monnin and his crew are leading the fleet of twelve teams from ten nations by 7:1. Monnin said, „Top maneuvres have been the key to success today in the light winds on Lake Constance“. He added: „You have to able able to move well and smooth on these big boats. And: Mistakes can be extremely expensive.“

Ranked second and third after two day’s of close racing and about a third of the 22 flights and 66 matches in the qualification, are Mati Sepps Estonian Sailing Team (6 wins, 2 losses) and Markus Wieser’s Bavarian crew (5 wins, 2 losses). Wieser said, „In the beginning we were a bit rusty, aber we are getting there now...“ The qualification (Round Robin) will be continued on Saturday morning.

Germany’s second crew in the race, Max Gurgel’s Vmax Yachting from Hamburg, collected four wins so far and is ranked fourth just like Max Trippolt’s Austrian team, that had a very good second day. Gurgel said, „We are very satisfied so far. We have been a bit unlucky in today’s last race, but we are optimistic looking ahead to the days to come.“ The most furios, curious and shortest duel of the day has been delivered by Maxime Mesnil’s French Elite Team Match Race and Lukasz Wosinski’s Polish Delphia Sailing Team in flight 11. Wosinski got penalised three times and the race was over before it even got started.

The organisers from Match Center Germany celebrated their 20th Jubilee Edition of Germany’s most popular duel regatta on Friday evening together with the sailors, partners, guests and the team of hosting Yacht-Club Langenargen including Race Officer Rudi Magg who is celebrating his very own 20th anniversary at Match Race Germany. Match Race Germany’s founders Eberhard Magg and Harald Thierer cut the delicious chocolate birthday cake decorated with the 20th anniversary logo and feted by the skippers. Later in the evening more than 1000 guests and sailors celebrated the legendary „Erdinger Sommernacht meets Dirndl & Tracht“ – Match Race goes Lederhose und Dirndl Vol. 6“.Match Race Germany will end on Whit Monday, presenting the final and the public prizegiving.
