Logo Match Race Super Series

The new logo for the Match Race Super Series, will be presented for the first time at the „boot“ Düsseldorf. It was created by the Match Race Germany organizers at Lake Constance, symbolizing the duel character of match racing, in which, like in the America's Cup or in international tennis, the principle that only two boats/players compete against each other until the final where the two best teams fight for victory. Explains Magg, "With our commitment, we want to revitalize the classic and most exciting form of matchracing and strengthen those organizers with working and existing fleets worldwide“.

One of the leading international matchrace organizers is Przemyslaw Tarnacki, whose name is standing for the renowned Sopot Match Race since 13 years. The successful matchracer names the three most important tasks of the newly-formed Match Race Super Series: "First, we have to create a marketing package that brings together the best matchrace events as a stage for so many world champions and Olympians with their great history and tradition, as well as interested tour sponsors. Then we have to pave the way for newcomers to the Grand Prix sport, because matchracers are very popular on big yachts. Finally, we must work closely with World Sailing to simplify the matchrace rules. "

Jablonski, Wieser and Monin join the birthday party

Already at this early stage, the organizers of the 20th edition of Match Race Germany have received commitments from prominent skippers for the jubilee edition. Neither the multiple World Champion Markus Wieser (Starnberg / Berlin), nor the former Matchrace World Ranking No.1, 10 times DN icesailing World Champion and America's Cup semi-finalist Karol Jablonski want to miss out on the great birthday celebration on Lake Constance with it´s picturesque backdrop of the alps, Langenargen’s Gondola Harbour and Montfort Castle. Jablonski states: "Matchracing remains the number one in sail sports for me. But only on one hull! I expect exciting duels and I am very happy that I can be part of this anniversary. I would like to have a lot of fun with my team and have some superb races. "The best Swiss matchracer and his team are also celebrating their comeback on Lake Constance with world No.9 ranked Eric Monin at the helm. Eric Monnin states: „After a season on multihulls we still enjoy monohulls as much as before! The races are tight and very often the stay exciting till the very end. It seems crazy that Match Race Germany is already celebrating edition number 20. I am impressed that this event established itself on such a world class level. I wish the whole team and Match Race Germany at least another 20 as successful years.“ A wildcard goes to the 2016 German Matchrace Champions from the north of Germany: Max Grugel and his team from the Hamburg Sailing Club (HSC) will challenge the international aces. The final list of participants will be published in early May.

A strong family of sponsors: Partners of the first hour on board

Due to the quality and image of the Match Race Germany and it's organizers, many sponsors of the hour zero (20 years ago!) are still onboard for the 20th edition of the German Grand Prix. These include Ultramarin, the Meichle and Mohr Marina and in particular it's managing directors Clemens Meichle/Sonja Meichle, the Württembergische Versicherung AG and the brewery Meckatzer. Over the years, many major partners such as MHP - A Porsche Company, Skoda, dtm Group, Würth, BMZ, Meichle+Mohr, Nauti Sattler, ZF AG, EDOX and eventa are back again. As one of the largest sports events in the Lake Constance region, Match Race Germany has remained attractive and lively for more than two decades, thanks to the commitment of the team behind the event and the team of the hosting Yacht Club Langenargen e.V. including PRO Rudi Magg known far beyond Lake Constance’s borders. Every year around 30,000 spectators and guests are flocking to the shores and to the Langenargen’s Gondola Harbour, where the Race Village is based. There could be even more attending the anniversary. We keep you posted on events, participants and partners on our homepage: www.matchrace.de
